A reader requested some advice on the perfect capsule wardrobe - what are the necessities?
Sometimes you can have a wardrobe full of clothes, but you cannot find anything to wear? Sometimes the best advice is to focus on your essentials.
Here is my version of everyday wardrobe essentials, I promise you if you have these basics in your wardrobe you will never run out of things to wear.
Here's an example:

It is
really important that you take into consideration your body shape in choosing
each piece for your wardrobe and of course they have to be colours
that suit you. It is best to stick to only two to three additional colours (that also match together) to your
neutrals (beige, black and white) and then you can mix and match everything.
Each of these pieces can be as casual or as tailored as you like so they fit into your lifestyle. And don't forget you can add interest by having subtle detail so for instance the white shirt could be a wrap around with a tie. Ensure everything is tailored to your shape - are your jeans too long? get them altered by a tailor so they fit you perfectly, you will wear them so much more.
My advice is to put most of your budget towards your Jeans, Jackets, Shoes and Bags as you tend to use these items more.

Thanks so much for this. I dream of having a minimalised wardrobe where everything goes together - wouldn't that be bliss? First stop: wardrobe clear out (the big, scary kind) then a gap analysis. Wish me luck! Xx
